Combination Skin Routine: Step By Step Guide To Healthier Skin

 Combination Skin Routine

Combination skin can be a conundrum for many people as it is a mixture of two forces- oily and dry. But what can you do to curb your skincare needs and problems without harming your skin for lack of a better understanding? This skincare guide is just the place for you to become a pro in no time at all. With this guide, you can have the best of both worlds in little to no time. Let us first understand what combination skin is.

What is combination skin?

Combination skin is a skin type that is characterised by having both oily and dry areas on the face. Typically, the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is oily, while cheeks and temples are dry. This can make it hard for you to find the perfect skincare products as some of the parts of your face need oil controlling products while some need hydration because they are dry and dehydrated. One of the biggest challenges of combination skin is finding the right skincare products between oil and moisture. If you use products that are too drying, you can end up stripping your skin of its natural oils which can lead to more oil production. On the other hand, if you use products that are too heavy, you can clog pores and cause breakouts. This is exactly the reason why you need to use products that are specifically formulated for combination skin.

Now that we have established what combination skin means, we shall now delve into the skincare routine for combination skin.

Step 1: The first step in any skincare routine is cleansing. It is essential to use a gentle cleanser that can remove dirt, oil, and makeup without stripping the skin of its natural oils. You might need a cleanser that is non-drying and pH balanced. Foaming cleansers can be too harsh for combination skin, so opt for a creamy or gel-based formula instead.

When cleansing pay special attention to the T-zone, as this is where oil tends to accumulate. Use a gentle, circular motion to massage the cleanser into the skin, and then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

House of Beauty's Hydra Bright face wash is a face brightening, hydrating and deep pore Cleansing face wash for all skin types. A must have in your skincare routine for men & women. It cleans your skin without over-drying it, thanks to hyaluronic serum & Arabian rose oil. It balances the skin pH levels, like our other House of Beauty products. Suitable for sensitive skin too. Infused with Arabian rose oil, it has a hint of oud aroma, which has a calming, relaxing effect on your olfactory senses.

Step 2: After cleansing, it is time to tone. Toners help to balance the skin’s pH levels, which can be disrupted by the cleansing process. They also help to remove any residual dirt or oil that may have been left behind.

When choosing a toner, look for one that is alcohol-free and has salicylic acid in it. This will help in controlling the oil production.

Step 4: Moisturising is the most crucial step in any skincare routine. You might want to look for a moisturiser that is non-greasy, has ceramides, glycerine and hyaluronic acid. Use the product mainly on the dry areas of your face like cheeks and avoid using too much product on the T-zone as it can cause oiliness. Skip moisturiser in the morning and use it only at night if you have extremely oily skin.

House of Beauty India Kumkumadi Telum is a perfect cleansing, heat reducing, pigmentation reducing oil. Kumkumadi Telum is prescribed in the ancient Ayurvedic text of Ashtanga Hrudaya, as an essential beauty treatment for the face. It is now proven to brighten & illuminate skin and delay signs of ageing. It is a must-have essential for bright, radiant and rejuvenated skin.

Step 5: It is essential to use sunscreen on your skin to help protect it from the harmful UV rays of the sun which can accelerate the ageing process and cause damage to the skin. Look for a sunscreen that is non-comedogenic and gel-based. You can choose between a physical sunscreen (which contains minerals such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) or a chemical sunscreen (which contains ingredients such as avobenzone or octinoxate).

Use the sunscreen at least every 2 hours if you are going outside for an extended period.
